Who is Shawnna Sue?
Well, let me tell you... I'm an artist and the owner of Crooked Door Studio... a wee bit crazy in the head... but then again, aren't we all?

Here are a few of my favorite pieces...
A little about me...
As long as I can remember, I've been an artist. Always creating things. Drawing, painting, crafting, sewing, stitching and gluing random things together... you get the idea.
Art is the only way that I have ever been able to really relate to people. Words always fall out of my mouth in a nonsensical jumble, and I leave conversations with the other party feeling truly confused by what I was trying to say.
I know I'm not the only person out there in the world that feels this way and struggles with words, and struggles with accurately expressing myself with those words.
Through Crooked Door Studio, I hope to give others that same opportunity... to teach people how to express themselves when words just can't convey everything that we're feeling.
My experience and education in the art world is strange and varied. I have a Bachelor's degree from Kent State University in Communications with a strong focus in Fine Art and Photography. After college, I continued to go on to take Master's level courses in painting, drawing, and graphic design.
I live just north of Marysville, out in the middle of the country on an 1860's Homestead with my amazing husband, Doc. We spend most of our spare time lovingly restoring our property back to its original beauty. This is where the original Crooked Door Studio is located. The Studio is an old grainery barn, built around 1900. And a little silly fact for you: We named the Studio "Crooked Door" because the door on the grainery barn appears to be crooked. But upon a closer look, the door is the only thing that is straight... the whole building is crooked. Ah well, such is life... the name had already cemented itself.
As well as keeping busy at the Homestead, we have been blessed with a beautiful extended family that keeps us on our toes, and an amazing dog, Gertrude... pop by the studio and you just might see her there!

Right now I'm enjoying teaching acrylic painting. I hope you'll consider joining me for a painting class. I promise, we'll have fun!
